Hi, I’m Dr. Darlicia Alexander — a wife, mother of four, grandmother of two, and someone who has been on a lifelong journey with weight loss. Like many of you, I’ve faced the frustration, confusion, and emotional toll that come with trying to lose weight and keep it off.
My Struggle Began Early
My first diet started in the summer of sixth grade, sparked by societal expectations that began to shape my relationship with food and body image. That moment marked the beginning of decades of yo-yo dieting — a cycle that followed me well into adulthood.
A Medical Education Didn’t Make It Easier
While in college and medical school, I found myself caught in the perfect storm of fast food, chronic stress, poor sleep, and no time to exercise. Even with a background in medicine, I believed that calorie restriction and exercise would be enough. But every time I lost weight, it came back — often with a few extra pounds.
I Tried Everything
From Weight Watchers and HCG to protein shakes and hypnotherapy, I’ve tried nearly every commercial diet and method available. Time and again, I would lose weight, only to regain it. The cycle was exhausting — physically, mentally, and emotionally.
The Challenge Deepened in My 40's
As I entered my 40's, weight loss became even more difficult. Chronic back and knee pain, swelling, and perimenopause brought new challenges. My body changed in ways I wasn’t prepared for — and no amount of dieting or exercise seemed to help. I was miserable.
A Turning Point
Over the past 40 years, I’ve lost over 100 pounds three different times. Each experience taught me more about the complexities of weight, metabolism, hormones, and mental health. This journey transformed my frustration into a deep passion for understanding what truly works.
My Purpose Today
Today, I’m committed to helping others break free from the cycle of yo-yo dieting. With compassion and a science-based approach, I guide individuals toward sustainable, lasting lifestyle changes — ones that support both physical and emotional well-being.
What I’ve Learned
True weight loss isn’t just about calories in and calories out. It’s about understanding how our bodies work — especially as we age — and learning how to work with them, not against them. Hormones, habits, mindset, and biology all play a role. Real change comes from respecting the full picture.
